The Pineapple Thief are pleased to announce that USA group Sun Domingo will be joining them on their European tour in October. Here are some details about the band…

Sun Domingo are often described as ‘progressive pop rock’ by fans and
critics. A new genre of music it seems they’ve created – Bridging the
gap for listeners who seek depth & adventure in music but also enjoy
the timeless pop hooks. Think Pink Floyd and Crowded House.
Sun Domingo shot onto the international stage when DIY prog-rock
legends Marillion invited them to Montreal as direct support for two
nights in April 2009. The magic of that performance is captured in
their recently-released live collection, “Live In Montreal/Marillion
Weekend ‘09,” which came out on Rock Ridge Music on April 20, 2010.
This progressive post-modern rock trio hails from Atlanta, GA USA and
have been travelling the world for 6 years making music and building a
very strong fan-base.
Sun Domingo will be releasing a digital EP, “Piece,” on June 22, 2010.
The EP will be available via all digital download portals.
Says guitarist Edgel Groves: “The ‘Piece’ EP is a collection of five
songs we are very proud of. We had the chance to try these songs out
on the road over the past two years and get reaction from our fans.”
“One of our personal favorites and fan favorites is ‘Mad Maze,’ an
instrumental we crafted from pure improv and named after our manager
Matt Mayes, who inspired the song from his guijo playing in the band
Jupiter Coyote,” says Groves. “The EP version of this song showcases
John Wesley of Porcupine Tree on guitar. For anyone who has not heard
John play, it is a treat and well worth a listen. World class musician
and guy.
The band also plans to release its next studio full-length in
September. The as-yet-untitled album features songs from the EP as
well as plenty of previously-unreleased, newly-recorded offerings.
“These five tracks will be merged with another five songs later this
year for our sophomore full length album,” says Groves.
