Hi folks

A few updates to the website filtering through; a raft of recent interviews and Tightly Unwound reviews can be found under the 'press' section.  We've updated the discography and will soon have the 'meet the band' and 'lyrics' pages live (thanks to our very nice and active forum!).

A download EP is being released on July 28th 2008, available from all major download agents (itunes, emusic, napster etc). This will feature a special single mix of 'Shoot first', a brand new song 'Too Far Gone', an unreleased 'Tightly Unwound' track called 'Second Chance' plus a very different mix of 'My Debt to You'.

Related to this release, acclaimed film-maker/director Lasse Hoile is currently putting together a video for 'Shoot First'. Lasse is well known for his work with Steve Wilson and Dream Theater. The video will debut on the 'Tightly Unwound' mini-site:

Later this year, the guys are travelling to a remote location on our island to record an acoustic album for a release early in 2009. Details are sketchy at the moment but we know the band will be on their own and in an isolated country house. Early indications are that the band will pick their favourite songs for radical reworking and may even throw in a few specially written new tunes.

Been a while, sorry about that. We’re currently working on updating the content of this site so check back next week and we should have a whole load of new thief for you to surf. The band are currently rehearsing for upcoming UK shows plus the trip to Poland in September. Bruce is at this moment working on a cheeky cover version and the guys will soon have a brand new podcast for you to pass the summer evenings with.

A few of you have noticed that the last gig we played was as a 4-piece, not our usual 5-piece set-up. 2008 has been eventful for all of us and the challenge of balancing family, professional and musical lives continues to grow - recently at a very fast pace! So, it's with a very heavy heart that we have to announce that Wayne will no longer be playing with us, for that very reason. After 5 years and many, many wonderful times, it's very odd for us to now find ourselves without him. As I have always stressed, we're not just a band, we're a bunch of friends. Rehearsals are certainly missing our band mate.

So, we are now four.

We have just learnt that tickets are selling very well for the Putney gig on March 21st. There are still three weeks to get your ticket and they only cost £5 in advance. For further details click here.

Tickets will also be available on the door but we can't guarantee availability. This is the first gig of 2008 and we are very much looking forward to playing and seeing you all there. This will be the first opportunity to hear tracks from the new forthcoming album "Tightly Unwound".

We are pleased to announce that The Pineapple Thief have signed a new four album deal with K-Scope. K-Scope are part of the Snapper Music Group and will offer the band access to a wider audience base, worldwide distribution and greater promotion. The first release will be the next studio album titled 'Tightly Unwound' due out on May 19th 2008.

After eight years and six albums, The Pineapple Thief, for the first time in their history, will no longer be signed to Cyclops Records. Malcolm and Cyclops have always said they would not stand in the way of the band if a bigger player came along. Malcolm is a fan of the music as well as a label boss. Bruce and Malcolm are good friends having worked with each other since 1994. Happily, there is absolutely no ill feeling between the two of them.

So, 2008 is set to be an exciting year for The Thief. Watch this space...

Yes, ok. The forum has complained that the news pages haven't been updated for 4 months. We have listened to our electorate and decided to get our arses in gear and keep these news pages updated from now on. It's not that we've been doing nothing, honest!

So, news since Nov 2007? Bruce has finished the new album. It's called 'Tightly Unwound'. It has 9 tracks, clocks in around the hour mark and is, obviously, the best TPT release yet. Very much more guitar led, but still with the classic TPT blend of strings, classic synths, drums and bass. The new album raises the ‘Thief Bar’ even higher. I know, that barely seems possible. While the last album was dominated by the 27 minute monster of a track, this one balances things up somewhat with 7 shorter tracks, counter pointed by two longer songs, the final track 'Too Much To Lose' clocking in at 16 minutes. Don't get us wrong, we don't do 'long songs' for the hell of it, but often a longer song is the only way to complete the musical journey. We'll be debuting most of the new album at our Putney gig on March 21st. For further details click here.

As for gigs. We will definitely be playing throughout the UK in 2008 including Coventry, Leicester, Swindon, Manchester and Rotherham. As soon as these dates are confirmed, we'll update you.

A new studio album is due out in October 2007 and we are now taking pre-orders. These should be in stock in late September. With a 30 minute title track, 'What We Have Sown' is a little bit different. After playing it to the label, it became very apparent to them that is was a potential 'progressive rock classic'. We will leave it to you to decide. It's certainly still a TPT record.

Orders will be dispatched when stock arrives ahead of the general release date.

Thats right folks... The Thief are heading back to the smoke to play the superb venue The half Moon in Putney, London. We had a great gig there last time despite a few technical difficulties. Come and join us again and make it a night to remember.

The Pineapple Thief are playing the famous 013 venue in Tilburg, Holland on Saturday 15th September 2007. This event is spread over three seperate stages. Further details to follow!

The Pineapple Thief will be headlining the Saturday evening slot at the Live in the Park festival. Addmission is free with plenty of bands, activities and entertainment on during the weekend.

The festival is on the 30th June and 1st July. The Thief are sceduled to appear around 7pm.

Finally! The brand new Pineapple Thief podcast is here!

A light hearted affair presented by Bruce, Steve and Simon. We have decided to move into podcasts to communicate more of the thief to the fans in ways we couldn't do before. Not only can you listen to us talking about stuff, but we can give you alternative mixes, new songs, live stuff and snippets of unreleased rarities.

Each podcast will also feature an exclusive track written especially for the podcast which will ultimately form a "pod album". You will also be able to download the high resoution version free during the duration of the current podcast.

Bruce says....

"This month I've written a little song layered with guitars and mellotrons called 'and so say all of you', so get onto our website and get it quick as we'll only be keeping the podtracks up for a limited time."

Yes, we finally did what we said ‘we'd do ages ago and have available already'. The first TPT Podcast (TPTP). All we have to do now is edit out the boring/censored bits, chuck a few jingles in and a live track or two and then it will be available for you to subscribe to and download. Watch this space....
