I’ve just delivered a song from the depths of the SHIM sessions to KScope called ‘Open Waters’. This will be released as a ‘b-side’ for the digital single of Nothing at Best, available for download very soon. During the 18 months I spent writing SHIM, there were a lot of false starts. There is a library of ideas, riffs and sounds that remain just that – ideas.
However, this track was a false start that was almost at the finish line. When I played it back, I had no idea why it fell at the last hurdle. A few tweaks here and there and the song came to life and sprinted over the line. Well, at least it will be out there now…
